Project Rascals started with the idea of a board game built around extensive VR based skill checks, and evolved towards a first person action game that uses board mechanics for locomotion. We're still pre-alpha, but the major components are falling into place, and it's looking pretty good imnsho.
The game goes like this: You're playing a classical board game, trying to move your pieces along a pre-determined path towards a goal. At any point during your turn, you may grab one of your pieces, at which point you control it in first person. In this mode, you can use any of a number of mechanics to injure your opponents' pieces, like shooting guns, bow and arrow, thorwing rocks or hand grenades, planting exxplosive charges, etc. When injured, a piece is not usable, and if injured beyond a certain threshold, it will be returned to Start.
