I just ordered a VR capable GPU. It was the only step I needed to make my PC VR ready.
Intel i7 4770k @ 4.5GHz at 1.23V (got it at Microcenter 30% off when it was brand new)
Tuniq Tower 120 cooler (Back from the Athlon 64 days)
ASUS Z87-PRO (tricked into this when they didn't have the board I asked and budgeted for.)
(Great Motherboard board though)
16 GB RAM standard cheap 1600MHz
Soon To Add: ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 ROG STRIX VR Ready. Replacing: 560 Ti 448 Core.
It's a bit over priced for a 1060. However, I read/watched reviews of the card and decided the extra $60 was worth it. I also had a bit of other motivation in the decision. The card is pretty much a ROG STRIX 1080 board and cooler with a 1060 slapped on instead. Basically massive overkill in cooling and power delivery for a 1060. Supposed to be great build quality as well. I CAN'T WAIT! I have needed a new card for sooo long!
Now I just need to figure out how I'm ever going to afford a Vive or Rift. Eyes to the future I guess.
